A design and technology veteran with a twenty-year track record of delivering innovative products, Michael joined Thinaire in April 2014 as Vice-President of Product, responsible for tracking the competitive landscape, managing the company’s product roadmap, and serving as a bridge between sales, marketing, and technology to deploy exception product offerings in the market.
Michael brings significant startup experience to Thinaire’s product team, dating back to his days as a teenager, when he was part of the core team at a major Internet Service Provider. In subsequent senior level roles at startups MediaSentry and No Mystery Media, he helped teams grow from inception to raising money and successful exit.
A noted thought leader in the digital media space, Michael’s work in design and media has earned him awards and credits in music, film, and television for work done with Sundance, ABC, HBO, etc.
Shannon Roy, Chief Revenue Officer
Shannon has been described as a “serial startupist”, with a track record of growing diverse businesses in software, e-commerce, light manufacturing, pharma, and entertainment. The predominant threads that connect Shannon’s career are team building and partner engagement.
An international corporate governance expert, specialized in software engineering, recruitment, China-biz, and e-commerce, Shannon brings to Thinaire a track record of building sustainable engagement models with corporate partners and/or value-added re-sellers. Most recently, as CIO/CTO of the Creata Group, his brief included duties as diverse as building out an end-to-end Product Lifecycle Management system, and finding corporate acquisition targets with unique technology portfolios. From 2002 to 2012, as a Director of China Diamond (HK), he supplied management and consulting services to a range of companies in the China Diamond portfolio, including Bio-bridge Sciences and Obol Software. Earlier in his career Shannon was a software engineer, working in online commerce, content management, and distributed services for companies like Sony Music, Alcatel, IT FACTORY & AGSM.
James Szmak, Chief Operating Officer
With several decades of operational experience in Silicon Valley, James brings expertise in building out and scale the operational capabilities of the company, directing all operational aspects of the company and managing the team from pre-sales to post-integration support.
Prior to Thinaire, James was COO of JDRF, a major 501c3 charitable organization. Before that, he was Executive Vice President for Hyperion Solutions (acquired by Oracle), direct of America’s Sales Operations for Cisco Systems, and Senior Director for Business Operations at 3Com.
James also worked as the COO of FiberCycle, a pioneer in the creation of blade servers that was acquired by HP, and as COO of Salire, which was acquired by Mainstay.
Mark Goodstadt, Chairman
Since the 1980s, Mark has helped transform traditional businesses into digital one. In 1989, Mark acquired Global Document Solutions and, as Chairman and CEO, led the firm’s transformation from its roots in traditional offset printing and direct mail to become a leading provider of highly differentiated, technology driven customer communications. His visionary leadership took GDS nationwide as a pioneer in digital printing for the financial services industry and government agencies (The company was acquired in 2004).
Since then, Mark has been fascinated with new technology and the impact it can have as a transformative force in the marketing world. Mark started Thinaire to explore way in which technologies like NFC tags, beacons, and others could be used to power marketing campaigns in the mobile age.
